Founded in 2000 in Kakinada, Prajavidyalayam is a free K-7 "People's School" providing high-quality education to children who would otherwise be forced into child labor. Operated by the Kambhampati Mahidhara Foundation, it offers instruction in Telugu, free textbooks, and essential supplies to 160 students. This experimental project transforms the lives of the area's most vulnerable children.

Our philosophy focuses on nurturing creativity and entrepreneurial skills through a low 15:1 student-to-teacher ratio. The curriculum surpasses government standards by integrating sports, music, and public speaking into the daily schedule. With a six-day school week and creative teaching methods, we empower students to become independent and responsible citizens. 

We believe in supporting the whole family by providing free medical screenings, vaccinations, and dental care for both students and their mothers. Teachers conduct regular home visits to monitor well-being, and the school provides a safe haven for children of working mothers until their workdays end. This supportive, familial atmosphere ensures that every child's basic health and safety needs are met. 

Prajavidyalayam boasts the lowest dropout rate in the region, with 100% of 7th-grade students passing public exams with distinction over the last three years. Our impact extends beyond the classroom through adult libraries, vocational sewing training for women, and scholarships for female college students. With 90% parent attendance at meetings, we have built a deeply engaged and thriving educational community.
